ACUVUE ADVANCE® BRAND CONTACT LENSES RATED MORE HIGHLY THAN O2 OPTIX IN KEY AREAS OF COMFORT AND VISION QUALITY, STUDY SHOWS


JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 22, 2005) – ACUVUE ADVANCE® Brand Contact Lenses with HYDRACLEAR® received higher performance ratings from patients and Eye Care Professionals than CIBA Vision’s O2 OPTIX, a new study shows.

 

Data collected from patient study participants included significantly higher ratings for ACUVUE ADVANCE in overall comfort and vision quality, as well as further advantages in areas such as comfort throughout the day and at the end of the day, and clarity of vision at all distances and during daily and nighttime activities.

 

Practitioners conducting the study gave ACUVUE ADVANCE significantly higher ratings than O2 OPTIX in over 275 patient assessments in the areas of overall patient comfort (74% vs. 55% rated excellent/very good), overall patient vision quality (78% vs. 67% rated excellent/very good), and overall health of eyes (57% vs. 39% rated excellent/very good).

 

The two lenses were evaluated in a two-week daily-wear monadic study, conducted by 26 Eye Care Professionals throughout the United States. Both lenses were sponsor masked to the doctor and double masked to patients. Eye Care Professionals provided comments/ratings on their perception and observation of each patient fitted at the dispensing visit and at the final visit.
