VISTAKON® ROLLS OUT THE NEW FACE OF
THE ACUVUE® EYE HEALTH ADVISOR PROGRAM
SECO INTERNATIONAL 2004, ATLANTA, GA, February
19, 2004 – VISTAKON®, Division of Johnson & Johnson
Vision Care, Inc., today announced that the ACUVUE® Eye Health
Advisor program is getting a makeover. As the Telly Award1-winning
program enters its fourth year, VISTAKON® has redefined the
tone and appearance of all of its materials to help Eye Care Professionals
(ECPs) better connect with patients at an emotional level. The goal
is to better educate consumers about the importance of eye health
and the benefits of regular eye health exams.
“The ACUVUE® Eye Health Advisor program
underscores our continued commitment to helping ECPs educate and
empower the public with eye care and health knowledge,” said
Pat Cummings, O.D., F.A.A.O., vice president, Professional Affairs,
VISTAKON®. “We want patients to understand that proper
eye health means more than just clear vision – that it ties
into overall physical well-being – and believe that the new
look of the ACUVUE® Eye Health Advisor program will help accomplish
this." Research indicates that consumers are not fully aware
of the many diseases and warning signs that can be detected during
a thorough eye exam. During a regular eye exam, an eye doctor can
detect early warning signs of such diseases as diabetes, hypertension,
stroke, multiple sclerosis and high cholesterol.
Modern and appealing to ECPs and consumers alike,
the updated look consists of materials that feature the face of
an attractive woman who is virtually ageless and draws the viewer’s
attention to her eyes which convey a sense of trust. Sepia tones
deliver a softness and sentimentality to each piece while the ACUVUE®
Eye Health Advisor’s modern new logo adds color in shades
of blue and green.
On April 1, ECPs will begin to receive the new
ACUVUE® Eye Health Advisor materials. They will receive consumer
brochures that describe the importance of eye exams and what to
expect during an eye exam, as well as tools for parents and their
children that discuss the many benefits of contact lenses. In addition,
ECPs will receive “I Had My Eye Exam Today” temporary
tattoos and stickers to be distributed to their younger patients.
ECP-focused educational materials include staff
training modules that tackle such topics as improving patient loyalty
and triaging patient calls to ensure proper staff responses in an
emergency. These modules feature a video, workbooks and a facilitator’s
guide. ECPs will also receive a newsletter that provides timely
and relevant industry updates.
“Because doctors are our greatest resource
in terms of patient education, we’ve created materials that
speak directly to them and their staff,” added Cummings. “We
are confident the result will be increased patient understanding
and satisfaction, which translates into practice success.”
In addition to the new look, VISTAKON® plans to test the placement
of the new consumer-focused materials in areas outside of the eye
care office – namely at public libraries, on billboards in
high-traffic areas, etc. Look for more information on these new
initiatives in the months to come.
About ACUVUE® Eye Health Advisor
VISTAKON® introduced the ACUVUE® Eye Health Advisor program
in 2001 with two goals: to help ECPs enhance their professional
services with in-office educational materials, and to teach patients
that annual eye exams and complying with ECP instructions are important
to maintaining good eye health. The program’s literature,
software, videos, and other multimedia materials help ECPs address
many vision care issues with their patients, including diagnosis
and treatment, vision correction choices and the benefits of regular
eye exams. ACUVUE® Eye Health Advisor program materials also
help ECPs train staff members to better represent the eye care practice
and boost patient satisfaction. ECPs who are interested in registering
for the ACUVUE® Eye Health Advisor program can do so by contacting
their VISTAKON® sales representative.
